MOVIE
TIME
In
keeping with the spirit of Christmas, I decided it
might be nice to include a special Holiday Movie
Review on Dr. Seuss’s: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
I'm sure that most of you out there have
probably seen this animated classic before, so I won't
go into detail on what it's about.
Instead, I am going to let you in on a few
"well-kept" secrets that you may, or may not
already know. First off, for those of you familiar with Dr.
Seuss's other classic, Horton
Hears a Who, you may already know that Whoville
was a tiny town that an elephant named Horton
discovered on a dust speck.
What many of you probably don't know is that
the Grinch movie also takes place in Whoville; and the
entire town could fit on the head of a pin.
(or in this movie, on a snowflake.)
It's also known that all of the residents of
Whoville were related, accounting for why they all had
the same last name of Who.
The Grinch’s last name was also Who,
that is why people sometimes confuse the name of the
movie. It's
not The Grinch...who
stole Christmas, rather it's The
Grinch Who...stole Christmas.
In one scene, you see the residents of Whoville
singing and holding hands in a circle around the big
Christmas tree. Since,
as I noted before, Whoville is a tiny tiny town, the
residents holding hands reached completely across it.
This is where the idea for "Hands Across
America" came from. In addition, the music for Hands Across America and the song
the Who's were all singing was the same (only the
words have been changed).
And finally, you may have noticed that the real
hero of the movie is actually the small dog. He is the one who saves the day! And, it may come as no
surprise of you all that this character was modeled
after one of my own relatives (Uncle Ruff) when he was
just a pup. These
are just a few little known facts about this Classic
movie. Next
time you have the pleasure of watching this fine
flick, keep these trivial tips in mind and see for
yourself. Hope
you have pleasant viewing and Happy Holidays.

Holiday
Do’s and
Don’ts for your
Doggie
This is the time of year when we all feel most gracious
and giving, even where the family dog is concerned. It is important to remember that we are delicate creatures
and therefore I have decided to give you humans some
pointers (get it?) on Holiday Do’s and Don’t for
your Doggie. Here
are just a few suggestions from me, Chester B.
Chatsworth. Enjoy
your holidays.
Don’t let us eat chocolate.
Chocolate has a chemical in it that is
poisonous to dogs and cats.
Enough chocolate in our system could make us
very sick, or kill us.
Do be careful when
purchasing a live tree for Christmas.
Remember folks, we are dogs, and we often feel
the urge to lift a leg on a tree.
We don’t always know the difference between a
tree in the house and a tree outside.
Don’t feed us chicken or
turkey bones. Bones
from birds are long and hollow and have a tendency to
splinter and crack when dogs chew them.
These splintered bones can cause problems in
our stomachs and even internal bleeding.
Do give us rawhide bones as
a treat. These
are tasty, good for our teeth and gums, and will keep
us busy for hours.
Don’t strap fake reindeer
antlers to our heads.
We are dogs not deer and we get very
embarrassed to be seen wearing those silly
things…wouldn’t you be?
Do include us in your
holiday merriment.
With everything going on during the holiday
season and all the people in and out of the house it
is often easy to forget that we may feel left out or
neglected if we aren’t part of the bustle.
