2001 Mother's
Day Edition #4
|
|
Well, here it is folks...the
next installment of Chester’s Chatterbox,
the Un-Official Holiday Newsletter of Dallas Homes.
Now that April is over and you’ve eaten most
of your children's Easter candy, you can move on to
May and the wondrous holidays it brings. Speaking of candy, I went to visit Judy the other day at her
office and about got lost.
I was wandering aimlessly when I smelled the familiar
odor of jellybeans emanating from Judy’s desk
drawer whoops, I mean secret hiding place;
I knew I was home.
Well, not home home, just kind of home like my
second home, away from home home.
Judy does love those jellybeans.
Anyway, It just made me think about how
familiar odors can seem to make you feel right at
home. Well,
that actually has nothing to do with this newsletter
so lets move on.
Sit back now folks and enjoy the Mother’s Day
edition of Chester’s Chatterbox.

Cooking Tips
|
I
am going to take a break from
cooking this month, and I suggest
that you do the same. Instead, we should all take Mom out for a delicious
Mother’s Day Brunch.Here are three
places in the Dallas area that I
highly recommend for you to take Mom
for Mother’s day.
Mansion
on Turtle Creek (2821
Turtle Creek Boulevard)
Abacus
(4511
McKinney Avenue)
Voltaire
(5150
Keller Springs)
And
if your mom is like my mom, perhaps
you should visit my favorite place, Ye
Ole Butcher Shop on
E.15th
St. near Haggard Park, in Plano.
They always have something
great for you and your Ma to gnaw
on. |

10 Reasons why My Mom is so special
I passed a questionnaire out to all of
my friends and family to find out why their Mom is
special. These
are the top 10 reasons I came up with.
10 – she knew exactly where to
scratch me when I had an itch.
9 –
because she loves me 361 days (or so) a year.
8 –
she was always right there next to me.
(come to think of it, we were both chained up so
she couldn’t go far).
7 –
she always gave me the biggest mouse she caught.
(yes, cats answered too.)
6 –
She could nibble fleas and ticks off of me like no
one else.
5 – because she always licked me
clean no matter how dirty I got.
4 – She always told me she loved me
the best, even though she had 6 different litters of 8
pups.
3 – she never hit me with a rolled up
newspaper, no matter how much I deserved it.
2 – even when I was “in the dog-house,” she still loved
me.
And the #1 Reason why Mom is So
Special:
Because not only is she Man’s Best
Friend; but she’s My Best Friend!

Dog’s Day
Every dog has his day…why
not a specific day.
I mean, this month mom’s get Mother’s Day,
next month is Father’s day.
They say that every dog has his day..but what
day is that actually?
Hummm…there is no official Dog’s Day
so I think it is up to us to dedicate a day to dogs.
Let’s see…Father’s day is in June, the 4th
of July is taken, first Monday in September is Labor
Day, October has Halloween, November & December
are reserved for the big ones.
Well, it looks like August has to be our month
folks. Since
I can’t think of any major holiday in the month of
August, we will dedicate that month to Dogs.
But, we need a specific Day of August to
celebrate. This
is where you, our faithful newsletter readers come in
to play. Simply e-mail me, Chester Chatsworth, with a day in August
that you would like to see as the Official Dog’s
Day, along with your explanation of why it should
be that specific date, and next month we will announce
the winner and let you know when Dog’s Day will
be celebrated. Then,
in August, tune in to our newsletter to enjoy a
fun-filled edition dedicated to my fellow canines.

Fun Games To Play With Your Cat
I love cats, and I love to
play games with them.
Here is a great game to play called
“cat-hockey.”
This fun activity requires two people (or dogs
if you are adept with brooms), two brooms, one cat,
and one sock.
First, position the
cat in the middle of a large room or hallway.
Second, the two players should stand on
either side of the cat, facing each other.
Third, place the sock over the cat’s
head (he will move in a backward motion to try to get
the sock off his head).
Finally, each player will take his broom
and attempt to scoot the cat (backwards) into each
respective goal area (door ways or ends of hall).
The winner is determined by
whoever makes the most goals, before the cat gets the
sock off his head.
Or have Special Pet Olympics and expound on this
and other pet games??

MY MOM
Mothers
are all different
Some short and some tall
Some are wide and some are narrow,
And some have no shape at all.
Some are dark and some are sunny
Some are smart and others not
But My Mom is just perfect
(After all, she’s all I got!)
Some
mothers are culinary artists
Some give you table scraps and bread
Some are avid gardeners
And some prefer sewing instead.
Some are doctors; some are teachers
Mostly, you don’t hear the name
Others are self-made business giants
(My Mom is of the latter fame.)
My
"Mom" didn’t actually "birth" me
But when all is said an done
It isn’t DNA and "genes"
That makes this woman My "Mom."
‘Cause raising an ornery pup like me
Takes patience of saint (not sinner).
And, in the category of moms everywhere
My “Mom Judy" is the winner!
With
Love…Chester
