Thanksgiving Edition
#11

|
Well, here it is folks...the next
installment of Let's Talk Turkey, the
Un-Official Dallas Homes Thanksgiving Newsletter.
Now that you've eaten most of your children's
Halloween candy, you can move on to that Thanksgiving
feast. Just
a word of advice: When feasting this holiday season,
keep in mind that turkey contains the chemical
steroidal hormonal compound texihydroxidoiazleate
difosilate which is known to cause drowsiness in
laboratory rats.
So, if you plan to have a big Thanksgiving meal
of turkey...a word of caution...don't feed it to any
rats, and avoid operating heavy machinery.
Sit back now, loosen your belts and ties, relax
and enjoy.

Chester’s
Cooking Tips
It's Thanksgiving once again and I’d like to share my old family
recipe on how to stuff a Turkey, in 3 easy
steps….
Step 1: In a
large bowl, combine breadcrumbs, onion,
garlic, celery, seasonings, salt &
pepper to taste.
Step 2: Select a
plump medium sized turkey.
Step 3:
Force turkey to eat entire contents of bowl, or until stuffed.
* For veritable tastes, try substituting duck or
pheasant.

A
Funny
Thanksgiving Story
Ok,
so maybe it isn’t such a funny story, but what can I
say, I was only a pup.
I remember long ago when I was just a wee
thing, Judy decided that rather than hire a
puppy-sitter, she would just take me with her to this
beautiful home across town.
It was a few days before Thanksgiving, and I
can still remember how the house was all decked out in
fall colors and Autumn centerpieces when we entered.
It was very comfy walking though that house.
Judy went off in one direction and, being the
curious pup that I was, I decided to explore the rest
of the house. I
walked through the bedrooms and living room and
finally made my way through the kitchen and into the
dining room where, lo and behold, there was an amazing
‘spread’ of Thanksgiving food on the table. Wow!! I was
amazed at the food, and I was also very hungry.
I looked around to see if I could see anyone,
but there was no one around.
I looked for Judy, but she was nowhere to be
found. I
was very hungry (as most young pups always seem to be)
and the food looked sooo good.
I waited as long as I could (which wasn’t
long since pups don’t have much patience) then went
running up to the table, jumped up and took hold of
the plump, golden, turkey and began to savor the
juicy…plastic??
What? Turns
out that the house Judy had taken me to was a model
home and the dining room table had been set up to look
like a holiday feast, when in reality the food was
plastic. Dang, my puppy plot foiled again!

THANKFULNESS??
Thankfulness, appreciation, gratefulness, gratitude,
indebtedness, blessings, thanks...whatever word you
choose, it all means the same thing.
Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday opportunity
for us to give thanks.
So, what are you thankful for?? The people at
Dallas Homes wanted me to tell all of you faithful
newsletter readers that they are thankful to have
valued customers and friends like you.
Judy didn’t actually tell me, but I’m sure
that she is thankful to have a dog as wonderful as me;
as I am thankful to have a friend like her.
This brings me to my real point.
Thankfulness, that feeling of being thankful,
we all feel it but how often do we really say
it? Probably
not as often as we should.
Therefore, this is my great idea for this
Thanksgiving. (I
often come up with Great ideas because I am a Great
Dane you know, and even my regular ideas are often
still pretty Great.)
So, here it is, my great idea for this
Thanksgiving is that we all go out of our way to say
and show our thanks to people.
We can show thanks to friends and family, but
how about showing thanks to the guy who holds the door
open for you at the mall, or the boy who delivers your
paper, or the woman at the deli counter where you buy
your sandwich every day at lunch.
For one day (or more if you like) let’s all
just say “Thanks.”
My way of showing thanks to our mailman will be
to go one whole day without barking at him.
I know it is a hard thing to do, but …we all
have to make our sacrifices. Thanks to you all… Chester!
